Position Overview:

Our client is currently seeking a Tax Manager who will function as a trusted advisor, utilizing their extensive technical experience and understanding of our client’s business strategy and needs. In this strategic role, you will identify client needs and leverage our clients services and resources to meet those needs. Additionally, the Tax Manager will take pride in the responsibility of developing and managing a team by providing them with leadership and guidance.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide project management and leadership of client projects. This includes establishing/maintaining project plans, sharing these with the team, holding team meetings, preparing agendas, running the meetings to achieve the meeting objectives, sending follow-up communication, and making sure open items are recorded and completed in a timely manner
  • Review complex consolidated and standalone corporate federal and state income tax returns, including unitary and combined filings
  • Conduct federal and state tax research and draft/review memorandums to support tax return filing positions
  • Advise clients on a full spectrum of corporate tax services, including planning, research, compliance, and provision
  • Plan, execute, direct, and complete tax projects in a wide variety of industries.
  • Manage several client engagements concurrently from beginning to end, including preparation of scope, budget, resource needs, etc.
  • Develop, train, motivate, and mentor seniors and staff
  • Maintain active communication with clients to manage expectations, ensure satisfaction, meet deadlines, and proactively lead change efforts

Qualifications Sought:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • CPA or master’s degree in taxation preferred
  • 7+ years’ experience in tax accounting, working in either a corporate tax department or professional services environment
  • Proficient with the requirements of ASC 740 and the ability to prepare income tax accrual calculations, including quarterly and annual journal entries, footnotes, tax account roll forwards, and reconciliations
  • Demonstrate leadership, business development, recruiting, training, coaching, and mentoring skills
  • Experience with corporate tax preparation software: Corptax, ONESOURCE, or GoSystem RS preferred
